The Off Road Fire Rescue is perhaps one of the most popular vehicles in fire theme. It is cheap (it is easy to find around the ten or twelve dollars), it has an excellent design with plenty of features and accessories, it comes with a fireman, and the playability is huge, with or without the trailer.
The car is very easy and fast to build, it has an usual chassis made with a single piece, and the wheels arches use the traditional pieces. The cab, unfortunately, has no doors at all, and has no kind of seat for the fireman. On the other hand, the windshield is quite aerodynamic and the roof is removable to increase the playability.
At the back, there is a nice trunk with a back door to transport some fire tools. Of course, you will have to be careful in order to not to loose them on the road and the attaching mechanism uses the usual pieces so common in many other city sets. Finally there are two side clips for a walkie-talkie and a spot-light.
The trailer is above all very functional: it has a couple of side compartments for some oxygen bottles or even a fire mask, and at the front there are two clips to store an extinguisher or even a helmet. At the trunk there is room not only for the hose but specially, on the top, for a fire rescue control panel with plenty of instruments.
This set is one of the few (perhaps the only one…) 2007’s sets that is still easily found on stores. That says everything about its success. With more than one hundred and thirty pieces for about ten dollars it is surely a nice vehicle to have in any town. If necessary, the instructions can be found in here:
